Below are the answers to some of the common questions we get asked. If you have any others, get in touch, we'd only be too happy to answer them.

+ WHAT'S THE BENEFIT OF USING A PROFESSIONAL EVENT MANAGEMENT COMPANY?

A good event management company should be able to add value to every aspect of a conference or event. More often than not, this is achieved with no additional investment by the client, because a professional conference organiser's fees are generally offset by the increased revenue and cost savings attributed to their input. Things like increased sponsorship and delegate attendance, negotiating power, industry discounts and technical expertise all form part of this picture.

Financial elements aside, a good event management company can also provide valuable insights into venue selection, program development & speaker recommendations, functions & theming, and general wow factor.

Finally, by using a professional conference organiser, you can access state-of-the-art technologies that make it easier, cheaper and more efficient to run a conference or event, not only for your organisation, but your delegates, sponsors and speakers as well.

+ HOW ARE YOUR FEES STRUCTURED AND WHAT'S THE TYPICAL RATE?

Typically, our overall remuneration is made up of a base management fee and additional performance based fees around delegate attendance and the amount of sponsorship income generated.

Our base management fees are designed to ensure that both CORP COMM and our clients are covered if delegate numbers are below expectations, and our performance based fees are designed to reward all stakeholders when the conference hits a home run. In short, we only win when our clients do, too.

For more specific information on costs, get in touch and we can provide some estimates based on your individual requirements.

+ I'VE HEARD EVENT MANAGERS GET LOTS OF KICKBACKS. IS THAT TRUE?

As Professional Conference Organisers, we receive an industry standard commission on any accommodation we book for our clients' delegates.

Venues offer this commission because rather than having to manage the accommodation bookings for each individual conference delegate, they simply allocate a large number of rooms to the conference and we handle the individual bookings. This saves the venues countless hours of administration and complexity. Commissions are paid out of the venue's pocket and are never added to the client bill or to the individual room rates.

It's really a win-win-win. Our clients are happy because we're able to negotiate substantial discounts for their delegates, venues are happy because they sell a lot of rooms without having to manage individual bookings and we're happy because we're remunerated fairly for our efforts.

+ WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO HOST OUR CONFERENCE OR EVENT?

Ah, this is one of our passions. We love finding unique venues to host our conferences and events. Depending on the size of the conference, it's not always possible to avoid the big obvious event spaces, but where we can, we do.

With some vision and clever planning, just about any large area can be transformed into an exceptional event or exhibition space. We've turned underground carparks into high end exhibition spaces, held cocktail parties on tidal sandbanks and hosted gala dinners under a million stars in the middle of the Outback.

If we could give you one piece of advice, it'd be to think outside the square.

+ HOW DO WE MAKE OUR CONFERENCE PROGRAM INTERESTING?

The first thing you need to do is avoid 'death by powerpoint'. There's nothing that'll have delegates nodding off in the audience faster than slide after slide of monotonous data.

Don't worry, we get it, conferences need to be educational and that means sessions and screens and some Powerpoint presentations. However, it needs to be broken up with interesting sessions that provide interest, intrigue and inspiration.

Light and shade is the name of the game, and we've got plenty of good ideas to provide just that.
